hand knotted collection
The origins of hand-knotted carpets can be traced back more than 2000 years. Wool is the basic material but in Kashmir silk is also commonly used not only for the pile but also for the wrap and weft. Sometimes silk or cotton is used for the warp with quality wool pile for the weft. The appearance and number of knots on the back of the carpet indicates the quality. The weavers weave their soul and character into the carpet they construct, therefore, each hand knotted carpet depicts a nature of its own. Each knot is woven with the utmost care and excellence to give you the very best quality carpet.
hand tufted wool collection
As the name implies, this type of carpet is produced by craftsmen who draw the design on the canvas which will become the carpet’s anchor backing. These craftspeople then “tuft” the carpet using pneumatic tufting guns to insert various colored yarns into a backing. Velvet piles manufactured in this manner may be either “cut” or “loop” finish, and varying pile heights may be used within a single carpet to achieve a “textured” effect. Certainly this is among the most sumptuous types of carpet made, offering infinite design opportunities and variations. As a result we recommend using only those yarns blended with 100% New Zealand wool of the highest possible quality. The hand tufting technique of making carpets and rugs is highly creative and allows designers and clients alike to achieve an exclusive one of a kind “art decoration,” which enhances any interior scheme.
wilton
Several loom types are used to manufacture a variety of carpet constructions which carry the Wilton name. Both plain, or single-frame Wilton and Jacquard, or multi-frame Wilton come from the traditional “wrap and weft” process. Wilton can be woven with cut-pile, loop-pile, or cut-and-loop-pile. Pile heights can be varied within a single carpet to create a “structured” or carved effect. Face-to-face Wilton carpet is made on a different type of loom, which is particularly favored for manufacture of area rugs. All Wilton carpets may be woven using different fibers among them 100% wool, 80% wool, 20% nylon or synthetic according to expected quality and specific use.

axminster
Axminster is a well known name of woven carpet. Woven in fact on two distinctly different types of looms, “the spool Axminster loom” and the “gripper Axminster loom”, both of which were developed from the original jacquard loom technology of the nineteenth century. Generally, the gripper-Axminster loom is viewed as better suited for contract carpet production, and many of these looms now operated electronically. During this process, the yarn is cut to a predetermined length (according to the selected pile height) and woven simultaneously on the same loom with a jute or synthetic backing. Designs are created by the use of different yarn colors in specific places during the weaving process. Most Axminster carpets are manufactured using 80% wool, 20% nylon fibers however both 100% wool and 100% nylon are available.
