| sisal Sisal has its origins in Mexico where the fiber is harvested from the long leaves of the Henequen plant. The leaves are crushed, the green pulp is scraped away to leave long fibers, which are then dried and prepared for weaving. Sisal carpet is a beautiful and completely natural material of great strength and with the characteristic of rope. It can be used as wall-to-wall floor covering, coupled with interesting area rugs tossed casually on top, or it can be custom sized and trimmed with a wide variety of special bindings from leather to traditional tapestry patterns. We have a large selection of Sisal, in every type of weave, from small and delicate to robust, and in a wide variety of natural colors. Sisal is an excellent choice for an area rug because of its durability and as in carpets made of sisal, these rugs can be placed in areas of high floor traffic. Its clean, neutral appearance can complement any decor.
